My name is Ruben Chong. I am a third-year Industrial Design student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver. Since I was young, I’ve had a fascination with the objects we interact with and the relationships we form with them. This curiosity has driven me to explore how objects shape our lives, connect us to their origins and materials, and ground us in the places we exist in or once knew.
I believe objects can act as vessels for connection, narrating contextual stories rooted in community and place. My
intention is to create objects that foster new experiences, rituals, and emotions, shaping atmosphere and creating new memories. I am drawn to understanding human emotion and reaction to environments, designing with respect for all things: the material, the maker, and the user.
